Taliesin School of Architecture

Introduction to Digital Design and Fabrication

This course focuses on the digital technologies that are becoming increasingly common and utilized within the realm of contemporary architectural design.

At a time when designers and architects have an ever growing array of new tools at their disposal, there are, as in any period of rapid technological development; conflicting ideas of how new technology should be implemented into current design processes. We will use an array of digital technologies to learn and explore the potential possibilities and downside of integrating these tools into conventional architectural process.

To trace the transformations of architectural process and the relevance of digital tools, we will explore the historical and cultural theory and technological development that has led to the proliferation of digital tools within the entire building industry.
